Baden-Baden 2026: A New Meeting of Reinsurance Industry Representatives
The annual conference of reinsurance market in Baden-Baden, originally known as the “German Marine Conference” (until 1978), is once again this year a key meeting place where insurers, brokers and reinsurers traditionally hold bilateral negotiations ahead of the key reinsurance contract renewal date of 1 January.
- Date: 18–22 October 2026
- Location: Baden-Baden, Germany (the main venue is the Kongresshaus)
- Number of participants and attendance:
- Between 3,000 and more than 4,500 reinsurance professionals gather here every year.
- More than 1,200 companies from over 40 countries participate.
- High-level representation: A significant proportion of delegates are CEOs, board members and leading underwriters.
What are the main topics of these meetings?
- Renewal of contracts for the coming year: Defining reinsurance prices and terms for both European and global insurers, primarily in property lines of business, but also in natural catastrophe protection, liability, motor insurance and other areas.
- New technologies and capital: Integrating alternative capital (such as catastrophe bonds and sidecar structures) and managing systemic risks, including the application of artificial intelligence and the development of digital infrastructure.
Dunav Re continues its decades-long tradition of participating in this event. This October, our representatives once again met with business partners to discuss the latest market trends and future cooperation.
